Webhostinggeeks.com

I look at all the advertising opportunities available in different websites, and think that 'Darn, I wish I had my very own dotcom' as many of the opportunities available are only for bloggers with their own web domain.

And so I do my own 'research' on the different webhosting providers and what they have to offer. And quite honestly, I have not gotten very far.

Question: And why is that?

Answer : With all the vast options available universally in the virtual world, how does anyone make up their mind ? (-> Okay, that is a question answering a question, but I digress)

The point here is, if you are looking for a new web hosting service, where do you turn to?

Try the aptly named WebHostingGeeks.com, a site which has provided web site hosting reviews, ratings and awards since 2004. There, you get to read independent reviews of web hosting providers, therefore enabling you to weigh the pros and cons and the prices of the web hosting services provided.

If that is not interesting and informative enough, check out their blog section where many different (yet relevant) issues are discussed. Topics like "Should you consider a premium domain?" should be of much interest to a person like myself, still in the midst of considering moving to my very own domain, or even of much interest to a business-minded person.

Got porn in the workplace?

If you do have porn in your workplace, then in the words of Borat, "Naughty naughty" *waggles finger*

How does one expect to get any work done if there is pornographic material lying around in one's computer? Productivity goes down, obviously, colleagues start sharing them among themselves (and to the outside world), and staff tend to stare at the image(s) for long periods of time while pretending to be busy with important work matters at their computer.

Be careful, yeah? You never know if your company has SurfRecon ERT (Emergency Response Tool). What it does, is that basically it is a rapid-image-analysis application which is used to detect by analyzing suspect computers or any other digital devices for pornographic content.

I think it's great that there is such an application, as I was shocked to read that by asking an employee (eg. HR Manager, IT engineer, etc.) to look at pornography for any reason could result in a hostile work environment lawsuit. SERIOUSLY.

SurfRecon also has editions to ensure family-safe home computers, education, law enforcement as well as the business edition.

Move to Arizona if you like hot climates!

Just a couple of weeks ago it was snowing like crazy! Thank goodness it stopped snowing and the ice has all melted. However, the highest the temperature has been here the past 2 weeks has only been up to around 9-10 degrees Celcius. That's it. No wonder it is so COLD. Apparently it is currently around 80 degrees Fahrenheit in Arizona, which means that it is around 22 degrees Celcius with mostly sunshine. I AM SO JEALOUS.

In the meantime, instead of sitting around and moaning about the lack of warm weather here in Sheffield, I am checking out the listings of the
homes in Scottsdale.

Besides the service of listing properties for sale or helping clients procure the right properties, I like the fact that there is the option of going One On One if you require that aspect of service. What it means is that if you are a celebrity or anyone requiring privacy and anonymity in their real estate transactions, you can buy or sell your properties without the whole world knowing about your transactions.

1 000 000€ jackpot.

How awesome if you could get that sort of money in just a blink of an eye? Apparently at Betsson Casino, it's Arabian Nights video slot jackpot has passed 1 000 000€, and may just fall out at any time.

Anyhow, was just checking out the vast selection of games they have available as well as reading up on their promise of fair play for every Games experience. It is great (and important!) to know that the exact same random number generator is used when playing with fun money AND real money, and it has been assessed and approved by Technical Systems Testing in Canada.

I've been having fun trying my luck at Table Keno! Just playing with fun money though, am too skint (broke) to play with real money for the time being. Anyway, if you're bored, you could have a look at all the games there and play for fun if you don't want to play with real money.

Magnetic therapy for drug-free pain relief for both humans and animals.

Injuries can be quite literally a pain in the (fill in the blank with the word of your choice). Despite being careful, one can suffer from injuries by accident. Gosh, and taking painkillers are no fun either. Especially if you are aware that being dependant on them is not a good thing, and it is even worse if they are not effective in the long run.

I can blog about painkillers not working from experience with the pain in my coccyx (the little tail bone at the end of my spine), as after a couple of months, the painkillers prescribed didn't work at all, and I had to switch to another stronger type, which I gave up taking eventually as I didn't feel too comfortable taking them everyday for months.

Luckily for me the pain went away eventually (but it still hurts me every now and then, especially if i have been sitting on hard surfaces for too long a time), but I do digress.

I wish I had a more natural form of healing product, especially since I found out about Magnetic Therapy Products. They specialise in all forms of magnetic therapy products, and proudly proclaim themselves the specialists in drug-free pain relief and holistic magnetic therapy. If you're a bit lost there reading that, well, basically it just means that there are alternative ways to treat pain WITHOUT being ingesting chemicals (drugs) and they are the specialists in that.

They also have products for animals, which I think is wonderful! It really sucks to see your pet suffering from arthritis and it sucks even more because you fell so lost and do not know how to ease their suffering. Yes, my poor dog. And the memory has stuck with me even after all these years =(

Just have a look, and read up on their testimonials and you should get a better idea that there is an alternative way to relieve pain, and it can be done, drug-free.

Online advertising industry - Revolutionising the advertising industry.

*Sponsored post*

Let's see. Advertising. Promotion. Ways to spread the word around about a new or existing product, or even about services rendered. The way people (like me) leave comments on others' blogs or websites with our blogs' urls and our chosen nicknames on others' blogs. It is pretty much the same with advertising; spreading the word around, albeit in many other new and different ways.

Oil prices have gone up and are going down now (and it sucks that I don't have a car here to enjoy the benefits of cheap petrol prices). Gold prices have dropped (if I'm not mistaken). Exactly what am I getting at here, you must be wondering. It seems that I am digressing, no?

Well, what I am getting at here is that investments in these 'products' or industries in the past would have been really really lucrative with what seemed like 'almost guaranteed' returns. Not any more, I guess. As I just said above, oil prices are dropping (when we thought it never would). I guess it's going through the cylindrical
cycle (did I get it right?). Prices go through a rise and fall. Sigh. I do seem to be digressing here. Anyway to cut to the chase, owning an Online Advertising Agency or working for one doesn't seem like a bad idea right now. I guess even though many different industries and businesses have been hit really badly by the recent economy matters, companies which are still standing will definitely need to render the services of advertising agencies to make sure they stay afloat, especially in trying times like these. And what better way than to reach out to their prospective key markets with advertising professionals who keep the emphasis on innovation?

So take the most brilliant and easy solution and hand over the daunting task of coming up with various advertising and promotional materials and campaigns to the professionals, relax and wait for the results.

Law enforcement officers' gear.

5.11 Tactical

*Sponsored post*

I read somewhere the other day that law enforcement officers seem to be looking younger and younger. Heh. Maybe it is just because we are getting older, and so to our eyes they keep looking younger and younger. Or maybe, it is because they have a much wider choice of wardrobe, from different shirts to eyewear.

And I know I am digressing here, but talking about eyewear for law enforcement personnel brings back a memory of a friend telling me to check out the policemen in Italy wearing their aviators sunglasses.

Well, back to the topic, there are no aviator sunglasses on 5.11 Tactical's website which sells all sorts of gear for the law enforcement officer, but the eyewear which is sold there at extremely competitive prices are apparently premium protective eyewear which is a result of the design partnership of 5.11 Tactical's with expert firearms trainer and decorated former U.S. Navy SEAL Jeff Gonzales.

After looking at all the accessories which are available for sale there, it made me realise exactly how many items a law enforcement officer or personnel has to carry when he or she goes about on duty everyday. Respect, really. Accessories meaning things like a back-up belt system, cuff pouch, gun holster pouch, a baton pouch, mace (a much stronger version of pepper spray) pouch,
double mag pouch, ties and knee pads as well. Gosh, that's really a lot of things to carry around on any given day.

Well,I really cannot picture the law enforcement personnel or "mata" (Malaysian street word for law enforcement personnel) back in Malaysia wearing the polo t-shirt or even more so, the shorts. -__- Maybe it is because I have been used to seeing them wear the navy blue uniform since I was young.

Nevertheless, there are freebies in store as well, as the website so aptly put, "they are trying to get the most bang for your buck". As a bargain hunter myself, that sounds right good :)
Freebies include a code for free shipping for orders above $50.00 and other free gifts as well. If it sounds good to yourself, then go have a look and not just take my word for it.

$8.00 for a pair of prescription eyeglasses.

*Sponsored post*

I was looking at a friend's pair of spectacles the other day (Prada) but I didn't have a chance to ask her how much she got hers for, as she was complaining that she had to pay every penny for them out of her own pocket.

And I was just looking at my own pair of spectacles earlier, and wondering what on earth possessed me to spend my father's money on this expensive pair (Hugo Boss). Well, to justify the spending, I would say that I don't change my eyeglasses every other year, and it is difficult for me to get cheap prescription lenses. Now if I could get quality eyeglasses on the cheap, I would buy them for myself, as it would be nice to match them according to my outfits and my mood for the day.

But it's extremely difficult to find good quality yet cheap eyeglasses, especially prescription ones. Even more so if they are stylish.

Zenni Optical answers my predicament above though.

In fact,this pair
looks like mine
and this pair only costs $39.95, AND the frame is pure titanium.

I digress. Prescription eyeglasses start from $8.00. No kidding.

Apparently, their marketing strategy to keep costs low (and thus passing on the savings to the customer), is by cutting out the middlemen, having virtually no advertising budget (word-of-mouth; it works!) and by not having a brick and mortar store.

There are lots of choices in their site as well, from bifocal lens, a HUGE variety of frames to suit every face, to tinted sunglasses lens. Nice.

And if you find it difficult to believe that prescription glasses can cost from as low as $8.00, check out
this article
from the Chicago Tribune.

Half-naked photo of ah ling on PayPerPost -__-

There's a half-naked photo of me online. Okay, there are half-naked photos of me online everywhere. But where??!??

Turns out my blog is the featured blog of the day at PayPerPost...*big smile*.

And my cheque for my sitting down and listening and talking sometime last month for a half an hour session came in the post today.

No, I didn't prostitute myself, in case you are wondering, wtf -__-"

It was for my stint as an interpreter for a solicitor's client, and I got paid more than I expected. Yay! These are the two good things which made my day, and will keep me smiling through today at least.

P.S: The boiler in the house is prolly effed up. This means that essentially, we have no hot water to bathe, and until the landlord does something about this, we have to keep turning the central heating on to get the water WARM for quick showers. Sigh.

Braden Power - A Founder of Power Properties.

*Sponsored post*

Aptly named after the founders, Power Properties’ name says it all. Power Properties was formed in 1990 to rehabilitate buildings in the more run down parts of Dallas, Texas.

Take a look at all the properties available for sale or for rent on Power Properties now. I am so envious. Really. Look at all the designs of the properties there. Personally I feel that the even the names (Stardust!!) are so pretty and the pictures of the properties help reinforce that notion of mine.

It is really interesting to note that Power Properties is partly the brainchild of
Braden Power, who was a ‘troublemaker growing up where hardly a day went by when he did not get caught leaving campus, talking in class or committing other minor infractions at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.’

It is also worthwhile mentioning that Braden Power had a talent for creating living space that would appeal most to young, single professionals and also understanding that to his target audience, design and community as well as convenient places were extremely important.

If you are living in Dallas, Texas or looking to move there soon, have a look at Power Properties online and check out the various properties available there. Any enquiries can also be answered 24/7, and the contact number is on the website as well.

Advertising - a way of staying ahead in the travel industry.

*Sponsored post*

Seems that since winter is well on it's way here, many people would love to spend the next few months away in a much warmer climate. Me included, but unfortunately, I don't quite have the means to do so. I digress.

The point is, I am quite sure that many people are shopping around for attractive travel packages to jet off to sunnier places, but how are the various travel agencies going to reach out and make them aware of the different options available?

Definitely by advertising, of course. But then again, advertising is such the norm through various media that companies have to keep coming up with different approaches and sending different messages to their audiences in order to let their brand stand out, be at the forefront of advertising and ultimately to be ahead of their competitors.

So, been thinking of advertising in a totally unrivalled way yet?

Well, I really like the way this
Full Service Advertising Agency wrote that "it has never been more important to make your brand stand out and to give your customers compelling reasons to travel with you" in their website. It's true, isn't it?

www.conrad.co.uk has managed to develop highly productive relationships with the relevant media, so you can be certain that the right message and media mix will be tailored for your business's success. As such, why not hop over to their website and have a look at their portfolio and jump on the right advertising bandwagon, and make this decision with no regrets?

Clearing vacancies in the University of Bedfordshire 2008.

*Sponsored post*

Summer is almost over and a new term begins soon! All of you who are heading to university, have you made up your minds yet? Yes? No? Or is it a rare case of you wanting to study in a specific university, but there are no vacancies or somehow or other you applied late?

Well, one university is having a Clearing session. In fact, I would like to introduce University of Bedfordshire - Clearing 2008 which has already begun actually, on the 14th of August.

Clearing 2008 is actually used by more than 30,000 people each year in order to find the right courses which suit them. Their clearing team is also on standby to offer potential students support and advice on a variety of topics like which course would be right for them, answer queries about finance as well as all one needs to know about studying in the University of Bedfordshire.

If you are interested and would like to find out more, you could try calling their hotline at 0800 013 0925 to apply for a place or drop by their website to find out a little bit more.

Health and safety in the workplace and injury claims.

I sincerely hope I don't slip on anything tonight. Yeah. How much would it be safe for me to wager that millions of other people all around the globe are hoping for the same thing in their workplace today?

I guess people who hear about accidents at the workplace are quick to blame the employee instead of the employer. But after reading about the many different accident types which can take place, it was an eye-opener to learn that through the eyes of the law, it is not just the fault of the employee or victim.

After whatever unfortunate incident which has befallen on the victim, many are unsure as to how to claim for the appropriate compensation. Yes, I am talking about Injury Claims.

In face, the Injury Claims are not just limited to injuries which happen at your workplace, but also in the instances of tripping and slipping in the supermarket, product liability, and also in traffic accidents.

So, if you are not sure about how to get about the claiming of compensation for your recent misfortune, you may want to check out Claimsforyou.com"
whose Head Office is in London. If you visit their website, you are also able to complete and submit a form available there for a free with no obligation service.

Please note however, that they are only able to help if the accident took place in England or in Wales. Best of luck!

Advertising helps companies compete more effectively.

Read the title of this post. Is it not accurate? I mean hell yeah, there are SOME companies out there who do not advertise through the media, but instead, news of their companies gets spread around through mouth, which also happens to be a really really effective, efficient as well as cheap way of advertising. So there you go, to compete effectively and to differentiate yourself as a GREAT and not just good market player, get people talking about your product(s).

Honestly, it is not as easy as it is made out to be. To get some help, sometimes companies also have to rely on a great Advertising Agency to get news going around.

Year by year the way of getting the message across to consumers are changing with the times. See, now blogs are even use to help companies strengthen their branding efforts. In fact, an advertising agency one should always work with is one which can tailor the right message and the right media mix for their clients' continued successes.

I quickly clicked on Property as I happen to be in this line as well (NO, I am NOT a real estate agent). See, being in the Marketing & Sales team for a developer's company which does not advertise through mainstream media, I do have to agree that it would indeed be more feasible to find out which media will deliver the best results and a healthier bottom line.

Yup, advertising is here to stay, and choosing the right Advertising Agency is very essential!

Lake district getaway.

*sponsored post*

I remember staying at a friend's place in Bristol. Since she was out working for the better part of the day for most days, I would normally hang out alone at home, and hang out in one of her house mate's room. See, the guy was studying to be a teacher and one of the subjects he would teach was geography. He came up with an interactive quiz for his students one day, and I took the quiz for fun. Guess what?

I freakin' failed that quiz meant for 13 year olds.

But I digress.
At least I knew about Lake District.

What the quiz (or my friend's house mate) didn't tell me about was that Lake District offers a whole lot of fun things to do and see. Yeah, sure, any smart person should be able to tell from the name 'Lake District' that there are lots of bodies of water there. But what most people probably do not know is that if they are planning for a holiday there, they can also go on a hot air balloon ride! How cool is that? Getting a nice, undisturbed view of the countryside up in the air.

Also golfers need not feel neglected, as there are many picturesque golf courses to tee off from. As corny as it sounds, honestly, England is a land of picturesque places, all the more since I come from a city where concrete and steel are the norm, not the countryside. Anyhow, the rugged beauty of Lake District is indeed a sight to behold, regardless of what activity one indulges in there.

Oh and by the way, if you do intend to make Lake District a 'must-visit' on your travel list, try checking out the Lake District Hotel as the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere there just blends in with the place.

Men in uniform are hot hunky men!

And no, I do not have a clothing fetish, okay? *whistles innocently left eyebrow twitching*

I just think that our Malaysian police force could do with some very extreme changes to their police uniforms.Especially since the weather in Malaysia is hell-scorchingly hot all year round, I feel that it would be more conducive to change the police attire.

Seriously, there are many many different options should they wish to re-invent their uniform.
From polo shirts (which will look really good on some, but not so for some others, however they are really practical given the weather) to hats and head gear and even to the watches which could consist of just Luminox watches.

Yeah, the possibilities are endless, and so are the choices. Time for a uniform change?

Get 'framed' on a budget.

*Sponsored post*

As a person who wear rimless glasses, I can tell you that sometimes it is a real pain taking care of the spectacles. Even more so since I know that they are so %$!^! expensive. Besides the price factor, well, sometimes finding the right frames to make you look pretty suit your face shape is a tedious process.

Good news, all you glasses wearing people (me included).

I've made a Great Discovry: $ 8 Prescription Glasses From Zenni Optical. Yup. From sunglasses to glasses for kids they have an enviable selection to choose from.

Even for titanium frames and lenses, the prices are really reasonable like a pair which I found for only $29.95.

Darn. Who says you can't be stylish on a budget?

Magazine subscriptions for Christmas, anyone?

*sponsored post*

You know, sometimes giving books for presents are a good idea. Or not. I think most people would rather read magazines. Imagine being presented with what looks like a boring book or FHM magazine. Hell, I'd go for the magazine straightaway. If price is a constraint (it is the holiday season after all!), then check out the The Magazine Group website which offers savings up to 90% on many subscriptions. Yup, loads of different magazines to choose from at great savings. I guess Christmas shopping will be less hassle for many people now.
