Getting inked soonGot inked, hopefullyFINALLY.

First of all, why the hell did I get cherry blossoms done on my back?

Well, googled around to find the meanings of cherry blossom tattoos before deciding to get it done, and according to this site and many others, cherry blossoms hold different meanings in both Japanese and Chinese culture. Too tired to elaborate about their meanings here, so check out the site above. Or just google 'meaning of cherry blossom tattoos' if you wish.
And I also decided to get five open blossoms, each one representing a member of my immediate family.

As stated in the teaser post earlier, here are more photos of the tattooing process which I underwent nearly a week ago.

Starting off, I thought to myself ,'Hey, the pain is not so bad'.
Less than 10 minutes later, the realization that I had 5 flowers and a branch to be tattooed sunk in. I totally look like the epitome of calm in the pictures, but what they don't show is my toes curling from all the pain, and my fingernails digging into the chair.

The first flower:

Tattoo artist Tacho (he's Argentinian, and specializes in Japanese-style tattoos) at work.

Close-up of the needle.

The boyfriend (and cameraman) still being able to happily camwhore.

First flower done! I remember thinking to myself, shite, 4 more to go.

Obviously, my attempts at being a cute camwhore was marred by the pain. My face has taken on a 'WTF whatever' look here.

Second flower done! It's not blood you see smeared all over, rather it's the ink. A few people thought it was blood. Actually, I thought so too, until I asked the boyfriend and he said it was ink. -___-

And so the EXTREMELY painful process went on and on until 2 hours later when FINALLY! Done!

Finished work. Tacho took pictures of my back to add to his portfolio, heh. I think it will be the first realistic cherry blossoms there, because prior to getting inked, I flipped through his numerous portfolio designs, and all I could find was not really realistic ones, more block images? But of which the colour shading was nice as well.

The next morning, this is what I found on my t-shirt.

Started panicking like hell, especially since the tattoo started 'weeping', and it stuck to my t-shirt during the night since I must have slept on it by accident.

Anyway, it's healing fine now, just that it itches like hell since the skin is still peeling. The huge scabs have fallen off though, just the tiny bits of skin still needs to fall off.

Just after tattooing, the boyfriend helped me apply Bepanthen (forgot how to spell it) on it after washing everyday. When the scabs started shedding, then I stopped using that and have started using E45 cream instead (non-perfumed, non-greasy moisturizer).

Parents seem to like the design and the fact that I got one for each member of the family. Mummy didn't see it from the webcam properly at first, and she asked me why I got clusters of red leaves wtf.

For all you people out there thinking of getting a tattoo, well, great! =) I love mine, and my only regret is that I can't see it myself, so everytime I feel like admiring it I have to see it from a mirror =/ Will I be getting another one? No definite plans for that yet, we'll see how it goes ^_^

P.S: Thanks to the boyfriend for helping me take care of the healing process of my tattoo, enduring me shouting obscenities when helping me clean my tattoo and also for taking all these pictures. Muaxxxxxxx.

Webhostinggeeks.com

I look at all the advertising opportunities available in different websites, and think that 'Darn, I wish I had my very own dotcom' as many of the opportunities available are only for bloggers with their own web domain.

And so I do my own 'research' on the different webhosting providers and what they have to offer. And quite honestly, I have not gotten very far.

Question: And why is that?

Answer : With all the vast options available universally in the virtual world, how does anyone make up their mind ? (-> Okay, that is a question answering a question, but I digress)

The point here is, if you are looking for a new web hosting service, where do you turn to?

Try the aptly named WebHostingGeeks.com, a site which has provided web site hosting reviews, ratings and awards since 2004. There, you get to read independent reviews of web hosting providers, therefore enabling you to weigh the pros and cons and the prices of the web hosting services provided.

If that is not interesting and informative enough, check out their blog section where many different (yet relevant) issues are discussed. Topics like "Should you consider a premium domain?" should be of much interest to a person like myself, still in the midst of considering moving to my very own domain, or even of much interest to a business-minded person.

Got porn in the workplace?

If you do have porn in your workplace, then in the words of Borat, "Naughty naughty" *waggles finger*

How does one expect to get any work done if there is pornographic material lying around in one's computer? Productivity goes down, obviously, colleagues start sharing them among themselves (and to the outside world), and staff tend to stare at the image(s) for long periods of time while pretending to be busy with important work matters at their computer.

Be careful, yeah? You never know if your company has SurfRecon ERT (Emergency Response Tool). What it does, is that basically it is a rapid-image-analysis application which is used to detect by analyzing suspect computers or any other digital devices for pornographic content.

I think it's great that there is such an application, as I was shocked to read that by asking an employee (eg. HR Manager, IT engineer, etc.) to look at pornography for any reason could result in a hostile work environment lawsuit. SERIOUSLY.

SurfRecon also has editions to ensure family-safe home computers, education, law enforcement as well as the business edition.

Google G1 Android a.k.a. HTC Dream

As blogged about (and from) my new Google G1 Android phone, well, just to show you guys what the box looks like because I can.

The boyfriend knew I've been wanting a new phone (since my, well, one of his Nokia phones which I am using for my Vodaphone line has a tendency like it's current owner to hang up on people). At first I was adamant I wanted an iPhone (white,16G), but he kept telling me about the pros and cons (actually I already knew about most of them hor, just that iPhones are cool!), and then that day he asked me if I was alright with the Google G1 phone and he came back with one. Lol. I think this phone is pretty cool as well, heheh.

The (almost) all black box with G1 emblazoned on the front.

Hello baby!

Just realized that our laundry basket is in the picture as well.

It's the first time I'm using a phone which slides open sideways!

To be honest, I'm still getting used to a phone which doesn't require a stylus to get around, since it has a touch screen as well as keyboard. Was telling the boyfriend that I found it weird navigating around without the presence of up,down, left and right arrows, and he pointed out that there is actually a mini mouse -___-

Showed my parents the phone yesterday through MSN's video call, and I can see my dad wants one. Unfortunately, I don't think I can purchase one off the shelf here, as for the time being it's exclusive to T-Mobile in the UK, and it's a 35 pound a month contract (600? 700? minutes, unlimited texts to any networks and unlimited internet access) which the boyfriend is paying, thanks very much sayang!!.

It's just like a mini-computer, the start up time from turning the phone on felt longer to me as compared to turning on my previous 02 Atom PDA. Zooming in and out on the screen while browsing requires buttons, and I feel it's a lot easier to zoom in and out on an iPhone, as you can just 'pinch' the screen.

Typing texts/web urls are a lot easier with the keypad though, which rocks, really, compared to the iPhone's on-screen keyboard.

My Gmail account is linked to my phone, so I always check my emails nowadays (but find them a bit of a hassle to reply from the G1).

And yeah, just wanted to blog about my new toy...am still playing around with the applications though, God knows how long it will be before I become fully acclimatised to this smartphone.

Thank you again very much beebee....MUAXXXX
